Welcome to Deanwood, a quiet enclave within the nation's capital. This two-square-mile residential neighborhood sits on the Northeast edge of Washington, D.C., on the border beside Maryland, with easy access to local shopping, dining, and D.C.'s major attractions, including the National Mall and the White House.

At one point, Deanwood was one of the region's earliest all-African-American enclaves with past celebrity residents, including Marvin Gaye, the prince of Motown and soul and the founder of National Training School for Women and Girls and women's rights activist Nannie Helen Burroughs. It is also home to Howard Woodson, a civic leader who calls for infrastructure improvements and access to essential services.

There is no shortage of outdoor activities in Deanwood! Thanks to Deanwood's Community Center & Library and Marvin Gaye Park. Marvin Gaye Park is a huge part of Deanwood's community life. The park hosts year-round festivals, concerts, and other community events. The Community Center & Library hosts the sporting event and offers workout and fitness space. Indoor amenities include a gym and a pool aside from the library. It also provides space for outdoor activities like a basketball court, multi-purpose field, and playground.

Homes in Deanwood are a mix of row houses, bungalows, and sub-urban style single-family homes.
