Welcome to Congress Heights
Welcome to Congress Heights, the up-and-coming community filled with entertainment and history. Catch on exciting sports action, watch concerts, and ballet performances.
Congress Heights sits east of the river, just beyond Anacostia. Quickly, it has emerged as a hub for sports events and live concerts since the coming of the Entertainment and Sports Arena on Saint's Elizabeth's Hospital East Campus. It hosts basketball games, boxing matches, esports outings, and live music.
Although Congress Heights is predominantly residential and quite a spot to call home in today's market, the neighborhood also includes arts and culture centers focusing on African-American history and culture and nice public green space.
If you are a die-hard fan of basketball and streetball, there are some significant hoops in the area, including what some fan call " Rucker Park D.C.," the Barry Farm Dwelling basketball courts. You can watch the Goodman League, which runs between June and August. It features incredible dribbling exhibitions and talent from NBA superstars to up-and-coming players. Playing the game has become the right of passage for local ballplayers. If you are not a hoop fan, try playing and discover the wonders of tennis at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
A recent addition to the neighborhood is Gateway DC, an open-air music and event venue. It hosts popular music, food festivals, and various community gatherings. For ballet enthusiasts, you can watch Washington Ballet performs at The ARC for ticketed shows or take dance classes. If you need to grab a snack, MLK Deli is the local's favorite.
